Botswana Post, is the oldest public service in Botswana. It was founded in 1875 by the London Mission Church. The mail was sent chiefly from different locations in Bulawayo to Mafikeng by the “runners”. According to historical records, around 15,542 mail items were delivered each year. This situation was kept at the end of the 1990s, until it had own transportation fleet and started to set up a mail delivery network, which means it began to use trains and cars to delivery mail.
